Peer review and chosen idea

Peer review and 3 ideas

Idea 1 (Omega)

The ideas of having mix and match animation style was one of my minor points and was heavily reviewed by my peers which surprised me seeming it wasn't a high looked upon feature, however i find this to be good and can see this to be a nicely used element within my feature.
a negative review/ helpful advice from my peers is to balance the chaos and horror of the dark humour so it's too distasteful and unfunny.
and lastly a peer said they thought it sounded scary and creepy which is exactly what i wanted even the idea on paper in affected of being scary is a good element which i want to be the theme in the dark comedy.

Idea 2 (War Mice)

In my review from peers they liked the idea of the drama and small doses of humour in the form of witty, if i choose War Mice for my final idea i would go through with the idea of making it more dramatic and making it a running  series with less comedy then original planned.

Idea 3 (Cook,Clean and Play)

Idea 3 was my weakest idea in my opinion because there was no were to developed or reviewed for good or bad, the fact that children's shows dont need to be too inventive with the story and style there no much to improve or look better so it's not hard to come with story lines and it's very dull and linear.

My choice

I've deiced to go with idea 1 because i was my original idea and i was devoted to from the start anyway but the reviews did put a lot of things in good view and made me feel more confident that people will like the idea of the animation and it's humour and style.
new ideas have been put into place and what vibe the ideas are giving of so i know where it's feel is to certain audiences.

Character Design

Character Design

Character design is a combination of physical traits and narrative. narrative or storyline defines personally, gives context, genre, location and setting. therefore has to feed in to the look and design of the character.
The face is the primary channel to express emotion. a reason for many large headed characters,
A lot can be said with posture and body language.
this allows for personality traits to be indefinable in silhouettes.

Solarski states that how a character carries their their weight can tell us about their personality,
which body part they lead with is important.

A hero leads with their chest.
someone layed back or lazy leads with their pelvis.
Intelligent characters lead with their head.
A scared character would lead with their knees.

power and dominance revolves around expanding power! expand - take up scale weakness: cover up make yourself small.

Hero leading with chest.

Hercules from walt disney's Hercules.

egg man saying yeah boy animation

Bear on wasteland animation

To create this short Animation i used after effects and had all the individual body parts in place e.g the limbs and head and torso.
i then moved the arms and legs and there center point to be attached to the body by parenting them to it. then i went to the arms and made then swing by adding in different points of rotation so it would give off the effect of moving back and forth via key frames.
i then applied the same technique to the head and legs so movement was set in place the character.
however by now everything was very stiff and not bending like arms and legs should do. so i went ahead and warped the assets one at a time to create joints in the knees, elbows, ankles etc.
now all the limbs and movement looked correct i simply added a quick background then exported it.

My new animated gif

slow version

This second GIF i did on Photoshop the same style as before importing a movie clip into Photoshop then setting up the loop forever on the frames i wanted. however this time as you can clearly see it did something different, this time i rotoshoped the frames, frame at a time so i did was go on frame 1 then layer 1 added a layer on top of then went over the top of it with the brush tool until everything was covered then i would delete the orginal footage of the real life me so all that remained was the rotoscoped version to take it's place then i repeated this process for all 40 frames taking 10 minutes per frame then i exported it as a GIF.

First GIF's

To make this GIF i used Photoshop and important a movie clip within about 30-40 frames then set it to loop forever and added the text on a layer above so it what show up on every layer and frame.

For this GIF i had all these assets as individual layers so the rocket, numbers and flames were all different things that had there on properties so i could add different times for certain things to appear and move.
then in photo i set it into a GIF and set the frame rate to the way i wanted it and looped it forever.
